2025 MCRC Board Candidates
Chairman
Craig Berland
Craig is the current MCRC Chairman and he is asking you to re-elect him January 11, 2025.
Craig grew up in a very small town in western Kansas and has been a conservative Christian Republican all his life. He attended Kansas State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and subsequently went to work for General Motors Corporation. He resigned from a GM management position in 1987 and moved his wife and two very young sons to Gilbert Arizona and they have made Gilbert and Chandler their home for the last 37 years. Both sons, their wives, and eight grandchildren all live in the Valley of the Sun.
Craig is now a retired CEO of an aerospace company where he was responsible for hundreds of employees. He has many years of corporate experience and has been successful in solving problems for large corporations like Boeing and Lockheed.
Since being elected MCRC Chair in 2023, Craig has dedicated nearly all of his time to the Republican Party. Since January 2023, the MCRC has made great strides in becoming more relevant and we were instrumental in delivering a GREAT Trump victory. We are committed to continue our work and help bring our Republic back to the Peace and Prosperity that we once knew.
1st Vice-Chairman
Shelby Busch
A native Arizonian, born in Winslow, AZ and currently residing in Phoenix. Shelby Busch is a mother of 5, grandmother to 7 and a proud Trump supporting Patriot.
Since 2015, she co-founded two grassroots organizations, United Liberty Coalition and We the People AZ Alliance, with her best friend and love, Steve Robinson. United Liberty Coalition held multiple local and National protests, assisted with National border investigations and worked to empower the grassroots to hold our government accountable. We the People AZ Alliance has been in the forefront of election integrity and was point on the Kari Lake and Abe Hamadeh election challenge investigation and litigation.
She has made several election mechanics presentations to our legislators to help to bring awareness to significant signature verification and chain of custody failures that were at the heart of the very successful “Timeline Extension Bill”, recently signed into law.
Shelby was elected a National Delegate and was elected by her peers to lead the Arizona Delegation as the Delegation Chair at the RNC National Convention where she announced Arizona’s 43 delegates to President elect Donald Trump.
Shelby currently serves as the MCRC 1st Vice Chairman and led the MCRC hand count effort that received the funding to cover the MCRC Mandatory meeting. She also worked to install a GOTV phone bank, developed and directed the Maricopa County Republican curing operations and our first ever and very successful voter resource hotline.
2nd Vice-Chairman
Julie McIlwain
Julie grew up in Tucson and graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Engineering Management and a minor in Computer Engineering. Currently, she is a Senior Research Project Manager for the State of Arizona. Julie and her husband Greg moved to Laveen in 2011 and have lived in the Dobbins Ranch precinct since then.
Julie is a God-fearing Christian and a constitutional conservative. She always followed politics at the national level, but it wasn’t until after the stolen 2020 election that she began her journey into local politics. She first got involved in trying to recall the Board of Supervisors and was later inspired to become a Precinct Committeeman from learning about the Precinct Strategy on Bannon’s War Room. She is extremely passionate about election integrity and saving our beautiful state and country by restoring free and fair elections. We must return to one day, one vote with paper ballots and no machines.
Julie has served as a PC, PC Captain, SC, 2nd Vice Chair, and Chair in LD11. She was also a state and national delegate for Trump in 2024. She is an America First candidate running for the 2nd Vice Chair of the MCRC and would be honored to have your vote.
As the second vice chair her goal is to continue building on the successes of the last election cycle and to continue working as a team with the legislative districts, the MCRC, and the AZGOP to deliver more victories in the upcoming elections. While the victory of electing Trump as #47 was exhilarating, we still have a lot of work to do and cannot let our foot off the gas now.
Please feel free to contact Julie anytime at [email protected].

Treasurer
Lawrence Hudson
I am a former banker, married to Catherine Hayden, with 3 grown children and (so far) 2 grandchildren. I started politics after the
2020 election, helping with the canvass and the audit. You elected me Treasurer of the Maricopa County Republican Committee in
January 2023. I am asking you to re-elect me because there is still much to be done.
My goal is reform of our elections, to achieve Election Day-only voting and hand-counting. The path to that goal requires reform of
the Republican Party.
Tracy Martin
I retired early in 2019 after a career in the aerospace industry. The second half of my career was focused on supply chain management and contract administration. My team approach and leadership turned many non-performing suppliers into advocates for continuous improvement and within a few years, they all met requirements for quality, cost, schedule and customer satisfaction with several of them achieving top performer status. My professional as well as volunteer work with non-profits have given me a sound background in financial management and regulatory requirements. I have a BS in Business Administration from City University.
A chance meeting at a Trump flag waving event and a business card from a District Chairman led me to becoming an appointed PC in 2021 and continuing as an elected PC since then. I was recognized by MCRC as Outstanding Precinct Committeeman for (old) District 1 in 2022.
Since redistricting, I have served in many capacities in District 3 and have been elected twice as a State Committeeman. I was also appointed as a Deputy Registrar for Maricopa County in 2023.
I am committed to four principles for managing other people’s money: Accountability, Compliance, Planning and Transparency. Thank you for considering me for the position of MCRC Treasurer.
Secretary
Michelle Altherr
Michelle is running for the position of Secretary and is asking for your vote on January 11, 2025.
Michelle was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland but has made Arizona her home for over 30 years. She is a US Air Force Veteran, having served for 15 years with her last assignment being Luke AFB. She graduated from the USAF Community College with a degree in Applied Sciences although her chosen career path was eventually that of fashion design choosing to use her God given gift to create for private clientele. Michelle is married to her husband of 35 years and has one son and two beautiful grandsons.
Michelle’s life has always been about service wherever needed. She is a grassroots patriot who’s journey into politics began volunteering with Latinos for Trump. She was an Adjudicator for the 2020 election, worked the audit as an observer and table manager, canvassed, door knocked, and phone banked for the 2020, 2022 and 2024 elections.
Michelle has been attending the Executive Guidance Committee(EGC) meetings regularly for more than two years. As the previous LD23 Chairman, she has also been a member of the EGC. She has the knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of this body. Michelle has also served in the office of Secretary for the Estrella Conservative Republican Club of which she is a member, so she has experience recording meeting minutes and ensuring the information is distributed in a timely manner. It would be an honor to serve as a member of the MCRC and to be a part of continuing the great work this body has done over the past two years.
